BUILT
FOR
COMBAT
Baseball is built on tradition. Rawlings has 140 years of authority in gloves, but entering the bat category through DTC required a different playbook. Combat MFG was a true brand creation challenge: no audience, no equity, no existing relationship to build from. And the BBCOR category is defined by sameness, every brand speaking in exit velocity and barrel data. The category optimized for specs. No one owned swagger.
For the counter-culture BBCOR athlete, a bat is identity currency. The same forces that drive desire in sneaker culture, scarcity, community, and the thrill of access, apply directly to baseball. Performance is the price of entry. It earns you permission but not attention. So we built cultural relevance before talking about specs, using the mechanics of drop culture to create demand before scale. From tradition to rebellion. From availability to exclusivity.
Built for Combat. Ten releases, ten distinct creative universes, each built around a named colorway with its own visual identity and cultural reference point, from the sun-scorched grit of Rodeo to the breezy ease of Coastal. A teaser phase captured sign-ups before the first bat shipped. NIL athletes were embedded in the creative as collaborators, not endorsers. The Instagram handle functioned as a community hub where identity led and product followed.
AI WAS OUR
CLEAN‑UP HITTER
Combat MFG needed a complete brand identity, a launch film, a social content system and a functioning IG presence, all before the first product drop. Using AI-assisted asset generation alongside traditional creative production, the team built the visual world from the ground up and moved at the speed of the culture, without the constraints of a traditional agency production cycle.
“They bring years of agency and brand experience in the sports arena, but also an entrepreneurial mindset that challenges the traditional ways of marketing.”
